La creación de estadísticas sólidas, homogéneas y comparables internacionalmente sobre economía social ha sido tema de debate en dos de los últimos grandes eventos sobre economía social celebrados recientemente: el 9º Congreso Internacional de Investigadores en Economía Social del CIRIEC, celebrado los días 4 a 6 de julio en Seúl, y la Conferencia Internacional de Estadísticas sobre Cooperativas de la OIT, que tuvo lugar días antes, el 30 de junio, en Busán, también en Corea del Sur.

La Asamblea General de la ONU aprobó el pasado 18 de abril la resolución ‘Promover la economía social y solidaria para el desarrollo sostenible’, un hito histórico, promovido desde hace tres años por la ‘Task Force’ de Economía Social y Solidaria de la ONU (UNTFSSE), de la que es miembro observador el CIRIEC, y alentada por las organizaciones representativas de la economía social a nivel regional y global. La nueva Resolución alienta a dar visibilidad a la la economía social mediante la elaboración de estadísticas nacionales.

El CIRIECSTAT participó el pasado 19 de abril en Mataró en el XIX Congreso Internacional de Investigadores en Economía Social de CIRIEC-España, organizado junto a la Cátedra de Economía Social del TecnoCampus, parque tecnológico y universitario promovido por el Ayuntamiento de Mataró y adscrito a la Universitat Pompeu Fabra. CIRIECSTAT participó en el congreso mediante una comunicación sobre ‘Los retos actuales de las estadísticas en Economía Social’.

Promoted by CIRIEC-Spain and IUDESCOOP, and based on the same methodology as CIRIECSTAT, the launch of VALESTAT aims to increase the visibility of the social economy in the Valencian Community by collecting suitable, homogeneous, and comparable data and statistics.

The CIRIEC-Spain Online Directory of Researchers has already completed two years, during which it has successfully collected data from over 600 Social Economy researchers from Spain and numerous other countries.

As announced two years ago, the Tecnocampus of Mataró will once again host the CIRIEC-Spain Congress of Researchers, since the Congress held there in September 2020, during the height of the pandemic, was able to take place but was affected by COVID-19, resulting in reduced participation and a smaller program than usual.

The Network of Young Social Economy Researchers (REJIES) will hold its VI Meeting on December 1-2 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, at the University of La Laguna, parallel to the ENUIES Network Congress of Institutes and University Research Centres in Social Economy.
